circ du soleil - Quidam

I went to see this last Saturday , I am not really a show person but I was thoroughly impressed by the whole production, very magical/mystical and eerie in places - I would not hesitate in recommending this to anyone it was that good! It's still on for a couple more weeks at the RAH if your interested.
A lovely dinner at the Ledbury in the evening rounded of a great day in the city.

We saw Quidam when it was in Sydney. A superb night out with fantastic performances from the oh so talented artists.
Derek - the music is played live by a small band (keyboards, drums, bass, guitars etc) with vocals from some of the stage artists. I remember the music being very appropriate and enjoyable.

Quidam is superb, great, "Dralion" is even better in my opinion.
The music is live, real musicians (well the one's I've seen have been)
The Beatles show in the USA "LOVE" in Las Vegas is brilliant too however, the best one BY FAR that I've seen is "Le Reve" at The Wynn Hotel, again in Las Vegas. You'd believe a man could fly after that show!

Been there - did not buy the CD or the Tee shirt - did it pass the "So what " test - no
Some very skilled people doing some potentially very dangerous things to some live Muzak - but hey "So What"
Interesting how they fitted the stage and overhead railway tracks into the Albert Hall. Would be of minor interest as to how they fit the stage into other halls.

They dont. As a rule they have a rather large purpose made tent or three.
The CD (from 9 years ago now) was a let down as nowhere near as good as the live music. This years musical performance was somewhat of a let down on all fronts..
Now the DVD (original) is one of the most played that we have.
Shame it didn't float your boat - but hey, it aint for everyone.

Enjoyed 'Love' recently at the Mirage. Very clever stage with unfolding sections. Emphasis on costuming and colors, slightly less aerial work but still enough to 'Aw' at. The music was excellent due mainly to the quality of the surround sound system.
Also went to 'The Blue Man' show at the Venetian. Very cleverly interactive. You end up taking a small part whereever you sit. Again great sound system, amazingly subtle comedy moments.
regards
Geoff

No doubt the attraction of "Love" is that the music is of your time and culture and so enveloped you in a good feeling of nostalgia.
The sound at the RAH was somewhat dead and the occasional buzz could be heard.

We saw Quidam last night in the Odyssey in Belfast and enjoyed the show immensely. We thought the skill of the artists was fantastic, particularly so as neither of us has ever seen these sort of acts live. There is just so much going on that it is easy to be distracted with the visual feast.
The only slight downers on the evening were the lack of leg room, popcorn reek and illicit use of mobile phones by some philistines. It would be an absolute joy to watch the live show from a comfy chair with the great unwashed at a distance.
