Are you really a Round Earther?

So now we know, if you can't recognise a tune, or are tone deaf it is all down to bad genes (see link).

Name that tune...

If my hifi sounds wrong is that my parents fault?

Or, should it read... if my hifi sounds right is that my parents fault!

I suppose a Round Earther, being tone deaf, and having no sense of rhythmn and timing perceives music as an occasion and so focuses on ambient cues, or the context of the music rather than the music itself. Another way to spot them is when they see the lyrics of a song as all-important, in which case it would be better to read poetry. However I do appreciate good stereo as this enhances harmonic detail, i.e: different tunes being played at once. Also a spatial relationship between performers can also enhance the temporal relationship between them. It is possible for this interplay to work on two levels without being distacted from two-dimensional notions of melody and rhythmn. If the spatial dimension confuses momentarily you can always move to the next room, leaving the door open!

Excellent, Jonathan. Too many absolutists on this forum trying to perpetuate myths of mutual exclusivity. big grin
