Hallelujah!

I just bought my dealer’s demo CDX a couple of hours ago! Prior to taking the plunge I performed an A/B test between the CDX sans power supply and the CD5 / FlatCap2 combo, both running into a Nait 5 (my current amp). The CDX of course won hands down in every respect. Every shortcoming I noted in my current setup was directly attributable to my CD3.5. I had to come back to work and tidy up, so I left my player running on repeat to warm it up for tonight and the holiday weekend coming up.

As soon as I got it home to drop it off I plugged that baby in and did a comparison between my 3.5 / FlatCap2 and the CDX. Same thing as at the store. I then subjected my wife to the two players and even she admitted, somewhat begrudgingly, that the sound was noticeably superior. (She hates to admit such things for fear of me upgrading yet again.) Of course, she did seem quite happy when I told her the 3.5 would be replacing the Rega Planet in the bedroom system, so even she appreciates good sound.
