Naca 5 of Linn K20?

Posted by: Mr_Sukebe on 11 July 2002

Guys,

I have a Nait 5 linked to my Linn Kabers using some K20 cabling.

Can someone give me their "experienced" opinion of the pros and cons of moving from K20 to Naca5?

Not an expensive upgrade.. get rid of the grainy sounding K20, A5 it will tighten things up, and make you smile!!

Sorry, not very objective post, but this is a 'no brainer!'
Cheers

Hi Mr Sukebe,
Goose is right NAC A5 is clearer, more solid and less grainy than K20. I've used both and even tried bi-wire combinations. This was with Linn, Naim, KEF and Tannoy speakers. I now use A5. Its balanced and musical.

This not always a 'no-brainer' - A5 certainly didn't work for me with Monitor Audio speakers. I'd recommend talking to your local friendly dealer about a home audition before you make your mind up.

There is a tendency on this forum (perhaps for understandable reasons!) to assume NACA5 will always be the right cable - experience indicates otherwise!better be on the safe side and try it first.
