Open source music

I got given an EP by ML last night. I know the guy behind it, and he was telling me that the music is released under an 'open audio license'. Not being a slashdot type, I haven't followed the whole 'free software/open-source' thing, but it seems like an interesting way to go. The upshot of it is that you can d/l the whole thing off his record label, if you are so inclined.

Not quite the same open source music but a way for a copyright holder to grant various permissions to various classes of users. This is also an attemps to make an easy to use GPL, something along the lines if "GPL for Dummies". Wired News Creative Types A Lot in Common
