The Thick Of It

I heard a clip on radio 4 of a rant that sounded bloody awful. I was going to watch it but that put me off.

Yes indeed - fantastic, satirical, intelligent stuff. No crappy canned laughter treating the viewer as an imbecile.

I skimmed over a full page article in the Daily Mail intimating that this 'satire' is frighteningly reflective of the real thing!

Chris Langham also, is superb as a writer and performer. This sort of quality in TV comedy is a brave and rare thing.

Agreed -- superb. And yes, Chris Langham is enormously talented. I remember seeing him in one of the very first "Secret Policeman's Ball" things, when he impersonated an owl, using only a large brown jumper and a broomstick -- nearly wet myself.

Earlier this year, in "Help!", he did it again -- a consumately excellent performance -- and now "Thick" -- obviously on a run.

Haven't seen Hitchhiker, but always thought that Langham was actually put on this earth with the express purpose of playing Arthur Dent.

Thought last nights episode was even better than last week. The Malcolm Tucker character is such a slimeball. Hugely funny but discomforting in its accuracy.

My favourite line from last night:

"Wank, wank with a side order of shit chips"

or

"Come out of the cupboard Minister"

.... "No!"

"Top quality swearing !"

Chris Langham is an underrated comedian. Roy Mallard from People Like Us was equally well written and delivered character.
