Ryan Adams- Easy Tiger

Posted by: mike/dallas on 28 June 2007

I just got the new Ryan Adams cd- Easy Tiger, and am impressed, best since Demolition. Several excellent tracks with only a couple of clinkers. Too bad he is such a whiner though.

demolition was crap though Winker

Yeah, I have to say I am resisting this one. I ask myself, do I really need another Ryan Adams album?

yup. Gold. still my favorite.

I'm playing it right now. I must have played it 3 times a day since it came on Monday, and it's still getting better, and it sounds better at home than on my ipod - I think it needs to be sat and properly listened to.
I don't entirely get why Gold is the benchmark when he has so many styles on offer. Maybe most people don't like country Frown . I think 29, Cold Roses & Faithless Street are his best. Too early to judge this one.

I think it is his best since Gold and I bought a copy all thanks to you Rasher.

Ay? You mean country or western Winker

I got it. Like it. Sounds like a lot of the same. Cold Roses was great! Is it me or is he channeling the Dead?

This is a great CD and definitely improves with age.

If you listen to Cold Roses, 29, Love is Hell Part 1 and Easy Tiger there are some excellent songs to be heard.

Mr Adams & The Cardinals are also a tremendous live act.

I'm still trying to fully warm to its charms. I recently bought the new Wilco album which at this point in my familiarisation process blows it into the weeds. Perhaps after a few more dedicated (rather than background) listens, it'll grow on me.

I think Ryan Adams is very talented and a real artist, he does suffer with quality control but even his bad albums have much to commend them. I think he is harshly treated by the critics because he probably a bit of a cock!

Playing this album again after a break from it for a week or two, and it's pure joy.
I bloody love it. Smile

I bought it at the weekend and it is very good, also it is very well produced.

I'm going to give it a blast now that I've mounted a new exact into the P9. Mr Yorkes Eraser has just sounded very pleasing I think I'm in for a good time!

Jay, your new cartridge must be amazing if it can make the truly awful Eraser sound palatable. This record get my vote as to one of, if not the, worst records of all time.

I thought it was rather good. Bit more Amnesiac and Kid A than OK Computer to be fair.

I revisited a couple of Whiskey Town albums over the weekend. Good stuff if you enjoy Ryan Adams country stuff.

As an album Easy Tiger is still not gelling together - I'll keep persevering though - what a martyr, eh?!!
