Voltage!

Hi all,
The voltage of my living place (Hong Kong) is 220V. My CD5X and power amp 150 will take power from the wall socket directly. My concern is that NAIM Amp claims for 240V. Any sonically degrade will obviously be heard if the voltage is not enough? Do I need a step-up transformer? If yes... any recommendation?

It'll be fine, no transformer required. I think it will sound well below its best if you use a transformer. The UK voltage is around 220V and my Naim kit works really well.

Whatever you do, don't use a transformer, don't even mention a transformer, you'll never hear the last of it.
I mentioned one once but I think I got away with it....
Phil
ps - 220 and 240 volt systems are pretty much identical - no need to worry.

I think you will find that the UK now runs the same voltage as the rest of europe.. ie, 230 volts. Just the fact that no one decided to tell the puplic at large, they just implemented the change.

Phil: No you didn't get away with it. The Transformer Police are wating for you to show up again at your last known place of residence............................

What! Where are my other 10 volts? Is this another NL hidden tax? European Voltage tax? Or is it linked to the oil price? Can we expect further reductions?
Just as well I'm not paranoid.

i dont think 241, 220, 210V will affacted so much, as i believe that nothing is perfect. In many country , the voltage supplied is said to be 220V or 240V, but when you mesured the voltage, you can't get the exact voltage.
The reason why you can get the exact voltage is because the 220V or 240V is the averange value, If you stay in some developement country or even advance country, you will realize that the voltage in morning and afternoon will higher than the voltage in night time(this is because in morning time most of the factory are operating, and they will turn off the machine at night).
The most important thing is the voltage you get must within 200V to 240V, cos below 200V or too high voltage will damage your electrical product.
I think what i mention above is correct^^, cos this is what my son told me.
