N-vi Display

Any ideas why the display on my N-vi keeps coming on for no reason, or this just another fault to put on the list of failures with them

I get this from spurious infrared when doing other things like changing channels.

Same here - just would see a (non n-Vi) command, trigger the display to wake up for a while and then go back to sleep. Well it did until the display failed (now back at HQ for a new one)

Is this on DVD or CD?
Is this on a chapter/track change?
Or is this just when sat idle (on what input)?

If the surround bitstream mode changes (e.g., when transitioning from TV program in 5.1 to an advert in Dolby Digital 2.0), and the display setting is set to "off" from the remote, then the display should chime in with the appropriate mode displayed.

These failing displays seem to be becoming more common place. Is there a reason for the failures?

I'm not sure if Naim are using a different model. Mine has always looked a bit 'rough' - when i saw one at a dealer a while back it was a much nicer display. Mine slowly lost brightness and then dissapeared. N-Vi was always used display off but i was a bit dissapointed it didnt last longger. Reminds me that i should find out when it'll be back...

If the display was off and you changed input, I would expect the display to come on, to tell the end user what input it was on - or am I not understanding here?

AV@Naim i would also expect the display to come on as you described, but not to keep coming back on when turned off, but as i said now seems ok
