Audiophile Vinyl Record shop opens in Central London

Posted by: Whizzkid on 10 February 2008

Hello all you Vinyl lovers Cool

A new Vinyl only Audiophile record shop called Cube has opened in Lambs Conduit st WC1.

The shop is selling labels such as Speakers Corner, Classic Records, Flying Dutchman, Pure Pleasure, Universal Japan and many others.

Lambs Conduit St is in Holborn off of the Theobalds Rd, WC1 you cannot miss it because Holborn Police station is on the corner and it is situated about half way up on the left. Nearest tube stations are Chancery lane or Holborn.

They have quite a large amount of releases so check it out and a website is on its way.

Mods, I have no affiliation with the owners I just thought other forumites would love to know about such a unique shop.

Scotty,

You'll come out buggerallmoney Big Grin. Also Scotty just mention you heard it from the scruffy Addison Lee motorcycle courier who was in the other day and that goes for anyone who goes there I might get a freebie for the publicity. Cool

So you wont make it for deffo.
Never mind. You will just have to come down in the summer, or a few of us will come to you for a day on your kit.

Munch,

No I cannot make it and I am a little gutted about it so for my sake no pictures or references to the shindig when I'm about would be much appreciated. Frown

Visited today. Not a huge range in the shop but there are plans for a lot more. You can see what they have got just by standing in the middle of the shop and looking around. Browsing does not take long.

Spotted a fair number (30ish) of blue note/jazz/blues audiophile pressings but not a lot of rock. Chunlk of soul/disco stuff as well.

Proprietor was very friendly and has ambitions for a web business, the shop being only the tip of the iceberg. But at present the tip is all there is.

New stock promised in a few days.

I popped in yesterday and am a little disappointed! It has very limited stock at the moment much of it in the jazz/funk area it seemed to me which is all fine, but my main dissapointment was that there was stock on the wall..see photo above... and behind the counter but I want to browse. to pick them up and handle the record covers, ponder..etc. Now I could do that but you do feel very conspicuous. It was like some of those DJ record shops in Soho where you feel you have to be in the know to buy anything 'cos so little is on display. So lets hope that the stock increases..a lot..and you can while away a little time as you spend lots of money!
I will go back but regret that if it doesn't really change its format a little then I will be back to the second hand shops etc instead!
