Sad to hear (although a nice exit)
In this world of routine hyperbole a genuine original, innovator and I'd say genius. Still making great music just last year too.

I bought 'In the heart of the moon' based on hearing less than a minute of it whilst channel hopping on TV. I am very glad that I did buy it. Yes 'genius' is not too strong a word. He made beautiful music.
