Just you wait until you slip a HiCap between the 72 and the 140.
P.S.
How's the hiss?

Nice one Kid!
But don't go anywhere near the Ultimatum range!
You'd be smiling even more.

The hiss has gone with the wind of the Celestions hitting the bin
So much better.
But yes, I dare not listen to MFS... but at least I know where my money is going if I ever get enough!
Basil - A hicap is next on my list.

so what was the final choice, Elite or Mystique?
I have the Mystique on my short-list - I don't have enough at the front end for the Elite I'm affraid.
Can you give a bit of a breakdown on the 3. I have never heard the Neat's, just by reputation, but am familiar with the B&W's.
regards,
michael

Ruark did not impress me really.
The CDM7 and 9 were very good.. sort of a very grown up and well balanced interpretation with extreme clarity. You felt th NT could handle anything thrown at them but they should do for £2000.
On the first note played on the Neat Mistique a smile exploded onto my face. They sounded everybit as clear but somehow more exciting like young, alive and fun. Top range faultless and bottom range deep and moving. Both Mistique (£795) and Elite (£1300) are a two way speaker, but they don't sound like most 2 way speakers. The Elite is the same as Mistique with a different tweeter. TBH I could not hear that much of difference to justify the extra £500 so the Mistique are a great buy for the great sound you get for the good price you pay.
All I know now is I will be aiming for better Neats when I change my speakers in the future... a NEAT marriage with NAIM.

Thats a shame, I had a pair of Ruark Equinox's before I had the Neats and they were quite a speaker. With my previous sistem (CDX/XPS 82/hi/180) They performed really well. They had plenty of insight into the music, plenty of detail and plenty of clout in the bass when it was needed.
