North London Puck Help

Posted by: Martinm on 24 September 2002

Got an ex-dem Cd5 delivered today.

Just got in from work v v excited NO PUCK AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGG!

I'll give the shop a call in the morning and get them to post it.

If there is anyone in the East Finchley/Golders Green area who has a spare puck I could borrow for a couple of days, I would be very gratefull as I'd taken tomorrow off in order to savour the purchase!

Cheers
Martin

Well...

* There was the left daughter board in my new NAC 72 (I was away when it was delivered) that was loose - taking out the left channel.
* There was a new Katan delivered with a faulty bass unit, and I had to wait a while for a replacement pair of loudspeakers
* Then I had to wait about 3 months for an Adikt, and I had to wait bloody ages for the Harrods installer to install it, in the meantime I changed the order to a Klyde/Linto and had to wait another 4-5 weeks!!! In fact, they came last Saturday, delivered the Linto and took the LP12 back with them saying they didn't bring the tools with them to set it up - I have to wait until the following Saturday to receive my deck!!!!

All from different dealers. I think it's me... I'm jinxed.

You win!

Had a message on the answerphone apologising for missing puck which they found this afternoon. They have posted it to me - just hope it comes through in the morning as tube strike prevents any hope of getting one from the shop!

Yes postman is still alive and well. I shouldn't blame the messenger anyway!

CD5 is warming up and sounding good. It is however going back!

Whilst it is undoubtedly a far better player than my planet, it is not a huge jump for shelling out the extra cash ( if I was buying for the first time I would be having the CD5). So i have decided to continue saving and go for a CDX.

It also doesn't quite boogie in the same way the old series seems to (maybe cos its not fully warmed up yet)I had a 3.5 at home for a while and allthough not as detailed or as subtle it did groove!

I'm hoping the CDX will do both and some!

Ok it's warming up now.

Nuno GET ONE!

Still gonna go for CDX as I feel it will be right for me longer term.

But boy is it begining to sound good
