My Naim was stolen - lookout for it!

Dear All

I have unfortunately been added to the incresing number of people whose flats are broken into in London.

Without going into too much detail the ***** took my full Naim system, threw on the floor my WT turntable and XX-IL cartridge (don't know what the damage is yet) but at least (!) they left my speakers (shahinian arcs) and all my CDs and LPs behind.

I have contacted Naim and given them all the serial numbers of the equipment taken and the crime reference number. They have said they were happy for me to post the numbers here to warn fellow forum members.

This is what has been taken (all new style):

NACDS(I): 81889
NACDPS : 81890
NAC52K : 148842
SuperCap: 132956
NAP 135s: 76375/6
Hi-Cap : 58990

I have all the boxes for the above and also the grey burndy cable for the CDS which the ***** left behind.

I would be gratefull if you could alert myself, Naim and the police (Crime manangement unit : 02087336777) if you come across any of these items.

Thanks for all your help.

Lambros

PS I advice everybody to get insurance for their Naim stuff - I just moved into this flat a few weeks ago and I had not got round to doing it yet and now I am sufferring the condsequences!!! frown

Sorry to hear about your burglary. A real downer.

I know how you feel, I was burgled a few years ago, but also had 3,000 records nicked!

Anyway, can anyone recommned a specialist insurance company to cover expensice Hi-Fi ? My home contents policy only coers £10k of electrical goods.

My understanding of the Nationwide BS contents policy is that they don't care how much your kit is worth as long as the total insured is the same as the total value of your possessions. www.nationwide.co.uk

Some guy based in London is currently selling a HiCap and a 52 and a SuperCap... might be worth emailing and asking for S/Ns just to alleviate any doubts.

I would do so under the guise that it is merely an age check on the gear you may wish to purchase. Naim often perform minor modifications to the spec, so a serial no. check is the only way to go if you wish to know what the sonic characteristics are likely to be.

You don't want to be accusing anyone of receiving from the outset, imho.

Regards,

Steve.
