On Wednesday evening Omer came to visit me.
We listened to music for seceral hours and then we started to talk about Naim.
First we talked about Mark Tucker and about the way he left Naim, I found that Omer likes him too. Then Omer started to talk about Naim in a way that many members here are talking - and it always awakes my cynical thoughts and I asked Omer if he has shares in Naim and thats the reason that makes him worrying about the company future.
What do you care, I asked, if something goes wrong with Naim, there are many other manufacturers - sure you can find one that you'll like.
It is not that simple, Omer said, you put a lot of money on the equipment, if something goes wrong with Naim, you will not be able to sell the equipment in good prices as you can now, and going for another manufacturer will cost you fortune !
I must admit that I'd never thought about Naim in this way.
So - for the people in Naim:
After 3 divorces I lost a lot of money.
I put a lot of money on Naim gear, so you can't take on your conscience that I'll lose money again, am I right ?
I trust you, and if you need some help, I'm here !

"him worrying about the company future" everything is cool, worry about finding enough money to buy more Naim kit.

Ayre
So you have had 3 wives and 3 divorces.....thats an expensive hobby.
Friendly tip.....in order to economise forget about finding another wife and take up excessive drinking, gambling, gigar smoking and a once a week visit to the local whore house....you might save enough money to buy a NAP 500 fairly soon.
Regards
Mick...who leads a dull life with the same wife for 29 years.

Paul Stephenson ,
Beleive me that having more money to upgrade my system takes a lot of time of my thoughts.
We know that Naim is a leading manufacturer at the area nowadays, and for my self, I'm not worrying at all.
I'm sure that you'll lead the market for many years to come, but telling you the truth, I think that if by any meaning you'll not, the prices of Naim used equipment will be much more higher than they are now, because if you'll not manufacture systems at the level you are doing now, no one else will !
Mick,
I know you are right, although I figured it up too late...

BTW, On a related note, Ivor T. of Linn in an interview lately said they sell stuff at cost plus, and if someone builds a better component at cheaper costs, they will indeed sell it cheaper.
IMHO a downright frightening statement - nothing new about their price politics, though, US manufacturers have been doing that for years.
But considering that Mr. T promised to lower the prices if someone else did better for less money, by now lots of Linn products should be dirt cheap !

I believe IT was referring to if Linn made a better component cheaper.
Linn seem to be so isolated in their little world now, I doubt Ivor could entertain the fact that anyone else could do anything better than them

Another couple of good examples of Linn doing exacly this are the Ikemi and the Kollector.
1) The Ikemi sounds better than the Karik/Numerik and is significantly cheaper.
2) Some hold the opinion on the Linn Forum that the cheaper Kollector is better than the Wakonda.

shahreza,
I can't say anything about what happened to him because I don't know why did he leave Naim.
I liked the way he was "shouting" at us if he thought we insulting Naim with no reason (some times he were shouting at us even if we did it with a good reason...).
It seemed to me he is a person who is speaking from the heart (I knew him only from the forum).
Compare him to Paul Desmond for example (and of course I mean only to the way I can judge them in the forum) is like the difference btween a stormy ocean (Mark Tucker) and a sphinx.
Paul Stephenson seems to be very subdued ("British" ?) - and I don't think there is a way to make him speak with anger (again, in the forum, I mean).
All together makes the forum too "sleepy" to my opinion, but if it is good for Naim, it is their forum.
