Dac and SKY HD

Is it worth looking at a cheap Dac to use with SKY Hd to improve sound ?
I see there are some relatively low priced ones available and wondered if its a worthwhile tweak given no current Dac and using Av2.

Are you currently using an AV2 then Gerald? If so then the DAC within is very good indeed - more than capable of handling the relatively poor sound from a Sky SP/DIF optical connection.

yes i am and it does sound good just didnt know whether i could improve on it whilst waiting for my AV3 (or here come the men in the white coats from Shutter Island) - i know its coming they're just keeping it from me !!

I use the nDAC and have my Sky HD connected to it. To be honest it's no better then when I had it connected to a KEF Kit 200 a few years back!

If you use a dac you will loose your surround sound that you currently get with the AV2. Also I think you will struggle to match the AV2 without spending a grand or so.
