Better Bass

Posted by: raymond on 26 February 2002

Hi, I use a pair of Meridian 205 mono blocks with my DMS Isobariks, i'm very happy with the overall sound but i find the bass hasn't got the impact that it should have, i used a 405mk2 power amp for a short while before the Meridian's and the bass was more defined, not better, but you could hear it more profoundly. To upgrade i will have to go second hand, the Naim 250 is out due to funds. The mid and high frequencies are so much better " more information, more detail" with the Meridian's than the Quad. I was contemplating Musical Fidelity X200s. I really thought i had reached my utopia. The dealers in my area are non -existent, so theres no try before you buy. Thanks Ray.

Hi again Raymond,

Whilst there have been several posts recently praising the sound of Briks powered by smaller Naims, I think you'll find that they really don't start to boogie until you run them off a minimum of 32.5 (or 42.5/62)/ Hi/ 250. You should be able to pick this combination up for around £1,000 but should allow for service in the near future.

Regards

Dave
