Helikan

Posted by: Christopher on 27 May 2003

Hi everybody

Would it be worth running a Lyra Helikan through a naim phono card (in an 82), or is this severely limiting its performance?

Rest of equipment is LP12, Aro.

Currently only have an MM card, so would need to change this (how much are these nowadays?). Ultimate aim is prefix, but won't be for 6 mths or so...

Thanks!

The Naim boards are excellent value for money at around £95/pair. They won't elicit every last nuance of music out of the cartridge, but they will do a good job nonetheless until you decide to upgrade the phono stage section of your amplifier.

Christopher,

What you want is the Helikon SL, which was designed with the Naim K phono board in mind.

It is a supurb cartridge, made even better by the use of a prefix. Adding a supercap to the prefix takes performance into a realm I did not think extisted.

Hey this is my 200th post!

The Helikon works fine into Naim K boards.
