help: ixo active crossover for credos

Posted by: JP Moree on 12 February 2004

Hi,

As reported in another topic I bought myself s/h credos. On my 112/150 they sound very good, however in my quest for tighter bass I would like to consider bi-amping. I found some info on a crossover designed to work with Intros/Credos, however, cannot find it on the Naim site. I have 2 questions:
- Is IXO still available? What price is common for s/h and what was/is the list price? Any experiences to share?
- Can the SNAXO 242 do the job for Credos as well? Any experiences.
- Or is a better solution to spend the money on a more powerful power amp?

Hi,
I had a brief play about with an IXO a few years ago in a CDS1 102 Hicap 140 setup with Credos.
What struck me most was how the noise floor dropped away giving a very black background and dynamics improved dramatically.
It was quite addictive. I can only imagine what a full blown active system sounds like.

Hi-cap and a 250 will sort all your problems out.

There's one going dead cheap on e-bay at the moment.
