Pixies advice

Posted by: Brucie on 09 May 2010

Simple question but not sure of there is a simple answer: If I were to buy my first Pixies album which one would it be?

You can give me a top 2 or three if that helps.

Think I'd buy this one...! Winker

But seriously, of the classic albums I find it quite hard to split between Come on Pilgrim, Surfer Rosa and Doolittle - the latter two probably being my favourite (you will find a big chuck of the classic Pixies tunes across these two)....

I also like the later Bossanova, which has a much more produced, larger sound...

Doolittle or Surfer Rosa were their best.

Surfer Rosa just edges it from Doolittle for me - rock and roll made dangerous and new (and fun!) again.

I have Surfer Rosa & Come On Pilgrim, Doolittle, Bossanova and Live at the BBC and enjoy all of them.

I have Surfer Rosa & Come On Pilgrim, Doolittle, Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde, but it's Surfer Rosa & Come On Pilgrim which I still play frequently...

Doolittle is their best album. That's the one to buy if you only intend to buy one album.

Hi Miles, What's that then?

I was not, of course, attracted by the cover.

That would be crude.

Alright I was. Cool

There are only like 5 (official) albums i think. Get them all. Period.

Get Bossanova first though. Winker

Get the Albini mixes as the MFSL cannot touch the original.

Trying to meet me...? Hikes..! Big Grin

As for the pics, I know the photographer....He does sell the Pixies images as prints - in a variety of forms - though I warn you, they are not cheap if you want a fibre, edition, hand-print....

Steve.

Richard - not selling here, just answering a question !
