Minime,

It would be churlish, to say the least, if any member of this forum felt miffed at you for being unfaithful to Naim in your choice of a new CDP. I for one admire your honesty.

I have a pretty firm idea of what you should partner your new baby with (baby being the operative word). The Mattel Corporation does a range of amps that they call the "cry wet baby story" series which are exceptionally good value for money. The "NAPPY500", the top of the range model, comes in fluorescent pink and pumps out a very meaty 2.5 watts (PMPO). All of this for 13 of your British pounds. Drawbacks are that at bedtime it cries and wets itself until you tell it a story. Upside is that the amp comes with an integrated 2" speaker so with no worries whatsoever on the speaker front you are ready to rumble.

cheers minky yes i am the unfaithful one but on a limited budget and after the docs finding out that i will never work in the same capacity again, the next upgrade is for life.
i bought the cdp for a number of reason's
1 it was cheap .
2 it does music.
3 i will not have to look at my front digital end again.
i will upgrade my vinyl front end funds permiting soon.
the people who sold me the s/h cdp treated me and my wife like human being's unlike some other(the list is endless) people.
no nappy required.

I asked my Naim dealer about best bang-for-yer-bucks budget amp/speaker combos for a mate a few weeks ago and he reckoned that you couldn't go past the Rega Brio/Dura (not sure if this is how they are spelt) which in NZ retail for a few thousand dollars all up.

What about a Nait 2 and a pair of Royd Minstrels. You can probaly get the lot for about £300 and in my opinion that would make a craking musical combo.

although i am working to a budget the player retails at £2300 so i was thinking the s/h market might be a good place to start looking.
