HDX Update Problem!!!!

Posted by: Oceanis on 02 March 2010

OK, so I followed all the instructions and CD's 2 & 3 installed correctly and this was validated by checking the new firmware was installed. CD 4 was loaded last night at 2030 hrs. The problem is that I am still getting the message "image cache rebuilding - do not switch off". It's been running now for over 24hrs - so now what Naim?
What's the recommended next step??

Contact your dealer or Naim Technical support through the Naim website.

Yes

no problem; if your HDX is linked to a plasma/lcd TV ignore what it is telling you and only read the screen on the HDX

I have updated 7 HDX's now - and disc 4 have by far been the most tricky one - from 1½ to 5 hours, depending on the number of disc's on the harddrive - message from Naim HQ was that it could take up to 24 hours, - and if I by any chance/risk had to turn of the HDX while in this process it would just continue the database be-build when it was turned on again.
But I would leave it on and contact NAIM, Steve Hopkins, should you still be in doubt.

It is important that you do not turn off a unit during update - there are specific instances where it would be OK to reboot a unit but most of the time this *WILL* reneder the unit unusable.

If there are any issues whilst updating HDXs then - as detailed on the update instructions - it is important that you do contact either your dealer or us here at Naim for instructions.

Oceanis : in your case when the unit is displaying "image cache rebuilding - do not switch off" and has been for a number of hours then it should be OK to reboot your unit as it isn't at a critical stage.

Cheers

Phil
