Is (or should) Naim start producing high resolution downloads?

Now that the HDX and the NS servers are available do people think Naim will or should start producing and selling high resolution downloads ala Linn?

I personally would like to see them do so adn charge an appropriate amount for them (NOT like Linn).

Your answer is within the HDX white paper at the foot of this page:

Why not? I'm listening to a downloaded Linn sampler right now, playing through ipod via rdock into system and you know what, it sounds great.

The Linn downloads are great from a quality point of view but the price of the high res downloads are as high as buying an sacd when it came out. This is ridiculous as the overheads of producing a package are negated......anyway if Naim really want to push it they could easily do it.

I know their label is small and catalogue quite specific but it would show some real commitment to hard disk based music imho.

I would also like pure pleasure records (and the other companies of the same ilk) to start doing the same but thats another topic altogether.

Agree, prices at Linn are ridiculous (way more for a download than buying SACD) but the sampler wasn't and is indicative of quality available

Jamie,
the quality is not in doubt....they are fabulous. Its just the content of the variety of music thats a little short. Both Naim and Linn cater for the jazz and classical enthusiast reasonably well but not for people who may be more inclined to some pop or (god forbid) something a little heavier!!!

I'm really hoping for a company who will produce and sell high res downloads for people like me who have an eclectic taste and also want quality too.....and I'm sure I'm far from alone.
