I know it would be a shot in the foot if they didn't offer backward compatability, but is there likely to be any problems with the Uniti or Unitiqute playing any of the new formats like MusicDNA? Also is there any possibility of displaying any of the embedded information on the new files on the front panel?

MusicDNA isnt a new format is it? I thought it was mostly a marketing tool for record companies to know who is listening to what, and where?
It is like scrobbling your listening habits to last.fm
It just adds info to the music, like really complex tags. These can include lyrics, album cover art etc... But it is just that. MP3s with stronger tagging.
Anything that plays MP3s can play these files. So yes the Uniqute and Uniti should be able to play them.
As to whether you can stream them or not is another question and perhaps your actual one. And if it can stream those tags is also another.
