Ringo's had enough

What a dick, Ringo that is.

What a shame when your childhood heroes turn out to be dickheads. He was on Jonathan Ross a few weeks ago and seemed to be quite an unpleasant character. How sad.

i think being a beatle made him think he had talent,he gelled with the beatles but on his own hes talentless,how hes still touring is unbelievable,who the f--K would want to listen to him sing for an hour or more.

I thought those Onion 'flavoured' snacks that were named after him were a tasty bite you could eat between Thomas the Tank Engine episodes.

The argument that these stars deserve their privacy doesn't wash with me. They owe the public, until the day they die.

Can't he just hire someone to sign things for him, surely thats what most of um do?

Poor Ringo - I feel sorry for him after all you know it don't come easy and all he is saying is back off boogaloo because all he really wants to do is spend more time in his octopus's garden in the shade.

BTW was it the Dave Stewart of Egg, Hatfield and the North and Gong that he played with? As Ringo would say it's my party.

Ringo's always been a complete tosser. An epitome of tossedness undiminished as the years go by.

I'm just surprised he's got a following of fans - perhaps now they'll get wise and finally realise what a talentless little prick he really is.

Although I quite like him...

Ringo wasn't a great technician but he had *exceptional* talent, no-one beats the way he does. Otherwise he would have faced the same fate as Pete Best.

Absolutely unbelievable rubbish ! Ringo has more or less retired for decades, so today he deserves some privacy like any other human being. The real tossers are those who think they have the right to bother Ringo just because he's famous.

Ringo has immense musical talent; an innovative drummer with a solid and joyously swinging feel. Let's remember that the other Beatles fired Pete Best in order to hire Ringo.

He was considered the "go to" drummer in town, the one everyone wanted in their band ... why would such monumentally talented musicians like McCartney, Lennon, and Harrison want anyone but the (pardon the unfortunate pun) best in their band?

Even though I vomit much of Phil Collins' music, I must admit that even he sings better than Ringo. About drumming, he hits far harder on his drum set but not half as cool as Ringo did.

Well, Clapton played on two of their last three LPs, so using leading musos from the late 60s wasn't completely out of their envelope.

I wonder, since no-one's raised this, if there's something wrong that he's trying to draw attention to - such as a life-threatening illness. That would not be something to be frivolous about, though it does seem a strange attitude to fans.

I empathise with Ringo because I had enough the first time I heard him.

Well that level of fame would surely set you off your rocker so to speak. But why do people write and want a signature? If I saw him in LA I'd say "thanks for the music Ringo" and walk on by.

One guy who is down on his luck in an art class saw him on the street and tried to get a signature and Ringo got upset. I had to laugh and said don't do that, it's a waste of time.

I thought Ringo was good for the Fab 4. Musical in his way. I heard that John used to follow him around because of the funny and twisted things he said, then put those into his songs. But he didn't give credit, or royalties, where due.

Ringo's just trying to work with people he likes and create a party on the road and spread the wealth around. Must be boring sitting in the sun every day in Malibu. Blue ocean, blue sky, a fire here and there......

I like Ringo, and what's wrong with being grumpy? As soon as there is something to moan about, we seem to join in well enough.

However, he is definitely not talentless ... he's a great drummer, and quite innovative in his time.

I really think the whole myth of Ringo as "talentless" arose only because he's not a great songwriter and singer, as the other three Beatles were, and because the average layman can't necessarily hear what constitutes a good drummer.

Again, I'd ask: why would three creative titans such as Lennon, McCartney, and Harrison fire their original drummer in order to hire Ringo if he was "talentless"? Do you think they couldn't hear his lack of talent? If so, why? Or do you believe that for some reason they wanted a "talentless" drummer in their band? If so, why?
