Alonso to join McLaren in 2007

Is it becasue Kimi is going to Ferrari?

Likely. I can't Alonso being the test driver! These changes generate excitement but seldon produce the on track fireworks. But this could be different - I hope so. I wonder if this effectively stamps a retire by date on MS? Could be an interesting season.

or because renault might be pulling out in 2007 having achieved their objective?

Bob
Funny a Renualt pull out came immediately to mind as well, especially with Michelin leaving at the end of 06.

Harry,
MS won't stay to compete against a driver who may be his equal.
If he does, it will only be if he's sure he can manipulate the team to ensure that Kimi is a "second" driver, who has to give way whenever MS' whim says so.
MS has said so many times that he loves the challenge of F1. Somehow he's always avoided having another shit-hot driver in the other car, though.
cheers, Martin

And when he meets one he tends to drive them off the road.

Dev, I think the small sum of £15m per year might have something to do with it.
