Wanna see the better looking 4G iPhone..?

You know how it is; you're an Apple engineer, love your job, etc etc...You have a few beers out on the town and whoops, happen to leave the advance stage prototype 4G back at the bar..!! $5k later, and it's in the hands of the bloggers.....
Look see.
I prefer the form factor, though it does remind me of a Sony phone a few years ago....

Looks much nicer, IMO. But yes, Whoops! Or is it another piece of viral marketing from Apple?

looks fake to me.....
apple don't do excess buttons and that has truckloads of them.
could also be a plant by apple as promo... to keep a buzz about their phone going.
i'll wait 'til they actually release it before i make up my mind.

I agree about the buttons - though I dare say the case wasn't 100% finished (it was even disguised as a 3GS from the outside cover according to the story)....
But I do believe it's real....Apple have never got into the game of providing fakes and false stories - they just normally keep things very tight under wraps (Cupertino security is legendary: 3 separate key cards are required to gain access to the inner design work area and often software engineers are without clue on the hardware devices they are working on) - except, in this case it seems..! I've used Apple professionally for more than 15 years and I'm fairly familiar with the rumour sites, right back to before the very first bondi blue iMac...By and large, you can spot the genuine snippets of info.....
Then again, I'm probably completely wrong and it's a wind up...! Still, I guess we will see June time (without fail ) ....

Looks pretty sexy, and real enough to me.
The only thing I find very hard to believe is that anyone would lose it - I just can't see see it happening. No way.
Anyway, I'm going to have to go through my Braun books when I'm home - the curves of the corners and the silver sandwiched between black reminds of a certain Dieter Rams hifi design concept I've seen (or maybe even a Braun shaver!)
Either way, Ive (possibly) does it again.

He's a friggin genius - I'm sure he could even make Swindon look good with a re-design..! If only he worked for a speaker company....quote:Either way, Ive (possibly) does it again.
As for the possibility of loosing things, ANYTHING is possible when beers are involved (German ones at that)....Hey, I often loose my whole house....

I broke down in Dec and bought one but told the guy black just seems to get lost in my bag or car. Took me to the carousel that had a dozen colors for the back, I picked lime. It's never lost.

Well, of course, Dieter Rams did produce the Braun LE1 variant of the Quad ESL57. And you can still buy a spanking new pair made under licence by Quad in Gering.

Just noticed on the Apple pre-order website that for UK buyers the iPhone4 is available sim unlocked (if bought from the Apple Store), finally...
S'pose it's one less thing to carry back on my next trip away...!

Steve, is there any benefit from buying the iPhone? Surely the multiples will be more or less giving it away free, provided that you sign up for a two-year contract? Or am I missing something?
Posted on: 15 June 2010 by SC
That's true Graham....But as you say, the downside is being tied to a contract, plus if bought through a provider the phone will be initially locked to their network....I believe some of them will now unlock it, after a period of contract time and/or fee, but I still find it a pain personally...
I think it really depends on your use. If you reside in the UK (or any one country) and only go abroad once or twice a year, then multiple sim use probably isn't much of a deal....I have just always had & used unlocked phones, and with UK and Thai numbers, plus other various sims, it's a great bonus simply swapping sim cards over....
Downside of buying the phone at full price ? Loosing it ! I had my last one nicked in a bar (no, not the iPhone4 prototype !) whilst watching last year's 5 Nations - England loosing to the Welsh just rounded off my day !

Steve, I know the pain of losing an iPhone. I was out on a bender last year and, when I woke up the next morning, the phone wasn't there. Cost me over £500 to replace it!

Only black available at launch, apparently (Macrumors).

Jesus - 600,000 pre-orders on day 1 and now stock accounted for until mid July....!!!

No worries here - I may actually get one, but I'll let the first phase highlight any teething problems before rushing in with eyes wide shut!!

Last Tuesday, I tried to pre-order the phone 5 times without any success! I've given up but on a second thought, it is better to wait until all initial issues ironed out.
