What do new forum users think?
Posted by: Tony Lockhart on 02 March 2005
I've been observing and occasionally contributing to the Naim fora since I returned from Saudi at the end of '99. Over the years I've become used to the different characters, and have learned which make me laugh, wince or spend.
However, I can't imagine what a newcomer would make of Fritz, Mick et al, especially when the insults start flying. Sometimes I have difficulty telling whether all is well humoured.
Any recent users care to comment?

I've just recieved a telegraph informing me that Mr M. Parry of no fixed (Gluepot Public Bar, Swindon) abode has all but completed his non stop around the world flight in his self restored Auster Aerocat, and would like a half of mild to be waiting for him upon his crash landing, innit !

For some reason, when I think of Mick, I picture that cantankerous old hobbit in LOTR that lived next to Frodo.
Having met the man I can only say that your image is worryingly spot-on, but with more humour.
Also as a newbie member this forum is like Naim Audio, better than the rest and rewarding.

I wonder if he has hairy feet?

Clear the car park of the Check Inn in Swindon and just hope he comes down in the adjacent sewage works for that added safety of a soft landing. He'll notice that the Sunday food is now just a carvery, but I'm sure that'll suit him fine. Mind yer fingers in the bar flap.
Cheese & onion fer me please.

The Hifi Room is more like a Mobius strip than a fold.
As for the "other one", I've been watching for a while and have noticed that some of the moderators don't mind insulting members - and not in good spirit either. Glad that doesn't happen here.

One suspects that if they really adopted the process of 'thought' they possibly wouldn't be here in the first place, innit ?
