For a good compilation try this :

It's also worth it for Aretha's wig and makeup. Perfect would be to have it in old heavy vinyl.

Get the above compilation. My two favorite of her studio albums are 'Young, Gifted and Black' and 'Spirit in the Dark'.

I also like.

Vastly underrated record from the mid 80's

Second "I Never Loved A Man' and "Lady Soul". The two indispensible Aretha albums. One of the best tracks on the latter is 'Good To Me As I Am To You' featuring some blistering guitar from Eric Clapton.

Couple of things there are 4 versions of Fillmore, MFSL, original cd, remastered cd and Double cd. Secondly the MFSL discs of I Never Loved, Lady Soul and Now are in stereo which I think the originals weren't. Not recommended by many purists but I love their sound.

There is also no harm in picking up a couple of her Columbia releases which are a bit more jazzy due to the fact that they didn't know how to promote her.

Happy listening to my favourite female singer bar none.

If there is any left http://www.rhino.com/store/ProductDetail.lasso?Number=7757

If not then it will be on eBay as it is/was a Rhino handmade release.

I missed the full Fillmore concerts on there and it is now going for mega bucks. Maybe the wife will buy me a copy of eBay.

Bought and on it's way!!

Received Aretha now. Fantastic!! Especially like See Saw. What i really like about this album is the backing singers and the 'interplay' on Take what i want. Great listening. Does anyone have any recommendations for any soul singers where the backing singers are really involved?

If you drop me an email at m.leemacpherson@tesco.net I have an extra copy of Staple Singers City in the Sky which you can have FOC. Not their best disc but a good one in places none the less.

By the way congrats on getting a copy of philly Live------ now watch it's price rise sharply.
