DINs on Hicap

Posted by: Mario on 25 October 2003

While doing my 3 monthly tweak up to my naim rig, I decided to use a different DIN plug on my Hicap that connects to my poweramp. I used to use "socket 1" to feed my amp but decided to use "socket 3" instead, as 1,2 and 3 are supposedly identical. Some people say that it sounds better this way as 3 is closest to 4 which has the signal from the pre-amp. The problem that I have is that for the life of me, I can't get the locking ring to turn and attach to socket 3. Is the plug faulty or is it intended to be this way. This doesn't really pose a problem as I just use socket 1 or 2 without any problems with the locking ring, but I'd like to know if there is anything wrong. Also, before anybody says not to use the locking ring for further sound enhancements, I wont do this as I like using the ring for saftey reasons and naims commitment to it should be credited.

Thanks in advance,

regards Mario.

All sockets should lock the same way. But nothing wrong using 1 or 2.

Thanks for replying Emmanuel, That's what I thought might be the case. I'm always a bit disappointed when I find even the smallest thing wrong with my naim gear only because their attention to detail is usually so good. Who knows maybe I just didn't try hard enough. Anybody else ever come across a stubborn DIN plug that had a similar problem ?
