I hate to admit but my only comment is going to be I feel sorry for anybody that can't hear past all this to the music.
I have no idea unless I read the sleeve notes what combination of a's & d's I am listening to. I leave that to the guts of my CDX2 to sort out and it seems to do a consistently excellent job

I just got a bunch of late seventies recordings - Dvorak Symphonies / Bavarian Radio Symphony / Kubelik / Orfeo - and once again what I'm hearing is great (ADD) reproduction of the music making, while the advent of digital in the eighthies led to horrible shrill harsness and all kinds of weird plastic sounds.

For piano solo you can go back to 1950 (mono ADD) and get a better sound than a lot of digital recordings.

Funny that, I could swear I had a Ry Cooder LP which sounded like it was DDD - totally ghastly and unlistenable anyway - one of those early digital experiments that went wrong probably Confused

I did not want to publish my attitude too early but I was embarrassed by the incoming views, I have to admit. I’m obviously a flat-earther, I see. Any time I buy a DDD, the record ends up as a present for one of my (not Hi-Fi nut) friends. I can’t stand the sound of DDD.

...but having checked the vote results, it seems I don’t stand alone.

I prefer ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) to DDD (Drug-Induced Coma Deficit Disorder)

I think how well the things are produced, how good the mike's were etc etc is much more improtacnt than whether it's DDD ADD or whatever. There's good and bad of each. I take no notice really.
