Naim Uniti - type of wired ethernet cable
Posted by: naimUnT on 07 November 2009
I have been experiencing dropouts with my wireless connection and have decided to try a wired ethernet cable. Any suggestions on the most optimal cable to use - cat 5, 5e or 6? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks!

Cat5e or Cat6 will be perfect.

Cat 5e and Cat 6a are the only two that have any point. If you are doing structural cabling consider Cat 6a as future proof. For anything else, Cat 5e is enough.

mines connected with about 100 metres of cat5e without any issues (bought the wrong length but worked out ok since I ended up routing it up to the next floor)

Cable crimpers are RJ45s are cheap as chips on ebay. You can make what ever length you want then.

Thanks for all of your responses. I think I will opt for the cat 5e.
