One for the cyclists
Posted by: Bruce Woodhouse on 14 February 2008
In October I crashed my ti road bike into a wall. I decided to have a proper custom fitting and here is the final result. Ridden it just for a couple of hours so far, planning lots more this weekend. Suffice to say that a bike that fits perfectly feels great straight away and the ride is astonishingly smooth.

Nice.
It just makes me jealous actually, 'cos I'm stuck inside the house with a badly smashed up elbow.
So I've got a "Spesh" road bike that I'm unable to get out on for the next few months, & a Santa Cruz Blur that my consultant has advised me to sell for fear of further damage to the elbow if (when) I ever come off it!!
Its getting SO desperate that I'm thinking of getting a turbo-trainer! Honestly, one handed indoor cycling! How sad is that!
Oh well, roll on the summer.
Enjoy your bike. It looks nice.
Cheers,
Matt.

Yeah, enjoy your ride!
We've had so much snow here in Montreal,we don't
know where to put it anymore!
Won't be able to ride for awhile!
Cheers,
Paul

It is a Parlee Z1 custom carbon
Manicatel-I also have a Blur XC, and I had an even worse crash on that after I'd binned my roadbike! result-bashed up wrist and face but not the fracture you managed. You have my sympathies, a few weeks of not riding after I'd fallen off got me really ratty!

Can't see you image. Something like this?
What a beautiful ride.
Nice to you are happy with the new bike

Nice bike! I really must get on my trainer down stairs - once the knee is healed from my meniscus repairs last week - is this forum jinxed at the moment with all these hospital cases!
Cheers

Great looking bikes and if that's a regular riding gear I'm impressed.
Mine isn't made to measure but a superb ride nonetheless.

Nice bikes chaps.
Mine's not quite in the same league, my current steed is an Edinburgh Bicycle Co-op Revolution Race:
But thanks to the wonders of the tax-free Ride To Work scheme, I'm about to change. Front runner is currently this offering from the nice people at Planet-x. Kaffenback Elite, all Ultegra, steel frame/carbon fork, £999
Get used to it over spring and summer, then it's taking me on a London to Paris ride in September
Steve.

Those Kaffenbacks are great value and also have a certain retro chic about them.
I'm wanting to get my wife one of these to replace her 15 year old Trek:

A wsd Trek 1000 suits me just fine for keeping fit and feeling young...
It's far more comfy than my more expensive and classy Cannondale, and that will be sold come the spring, i've given up racing now because i'm not daft enough to spend all that time training and getting so tired out!
On my Trek i changed the front 52 tooth ring for a 48, and the middle 42 ring was changed for a 39... helps to keep my cadence going better agaist the wind or up the hills.
This Trek 1000 cost me 450 ukp brand new a couple of years ago and that's not bad vfm ; )

Beautiful bike! What components have you specced it with?

Mostly well used stuff from my old bike, a mix of Chorus/Record (compact 50/34 chainset gets me up the hills), wheels are Campag Neutron Ultra's. Easton carbon stem and post. The bars are Ritchey Evolution which are new (and a really nice shape).

Matt,
How's the elbow?
I rode with a thalidamide victim years ago who only had one decent hand and he had a dual cable tandem brake lever to stop with. So don't worry about one handed-ness.

Hi there Jono,
Thanks for the concern.
My plaster comes off next week so that progress can be checked, more xrays done & then I'll have another plaster (or maybe a lighter weight brace) re-fitted. Its really a suck-it-&-see situation.
Ironically, I just received the Bike Events 08 brochure & schedule through the post, listing a few of the rides I had hoped to do. Hopefully I might get on a couple of the rides later in the year. Collecting donations for charity bike rides, when I'm in shoulder-to-knuckle plaster is going to look a bit weird to some people, I'm sure! Still, it'll give 'em a laugh.
Matt.
