NaimNet / Digilinx Problems.

Posted by: BernardG on 22 January 2010

I have 2 Naimnet amplifiers fronted by an HDX.
I have had my system for over a year now and I have some niggling problems which I haven't been able to resolve despite help from my reseller and NaimNet.
I was wondering if I am alone or if others have similar issues.

1) My NNP01 loses it's IP address on a fairly regular (though not consistant or predictable) basis. I need to reboot the NNP01 for it to be recognised. My NNP02 does not seem to suffer this problem.

2) I have little confidence in the reliabity of the DigiLinx software working as well reliably as I feel it should. Is it me or do you feel that it is soemwhat flaky in responding to instructions from a Web Browser interface?
I would say it deos what I expect about 95% of the time. The other 5% the software has a mind of it's own.

I would welcome anyone else's view on this.

You could try setting a fixed IP address.

Thank you Michael I have and that's what makes it a problem.

Am I the only person who'se purchased NaimNet amplifiers?

So would anybody who has bought the NNP01 or 2 please make themselves known!!!!!!!!!
And relate their experiences.

Thank you

Or as a somewhat tighter upper bound; the only person of the kind that frequents internet-forum(s)... Free bump though Smile

On a slightly relevant note, bearing in mind I have never even seen a NS* in use, are you positively sure there are no IP-address conflicts?

Absolutely sure that there isn't an IP Address conflict. _ Networking is my business.

Hi Bernard,

If you want to mail me I may be able to offer some suggestions. How many zones do you have and what server? Do you know what version of Digilinx dealer setup are you running? Did you do the programming?

Thanks,

Chris.

Ok. Suggestions. I assume the system is programmed as a digilinx system? Are you using a Netstreams or approved managed switch? I assume you have set your IP ranges correctly within the router? i.e. DHCP is set outside the Digilinx range? I would let the Dealer setup set the NNP IP addresses. The HDX will be fine on DHCP or static. If you set it to static make sure you load the DNS address so the server can see the internet for metadata. The HDX will work and be stable set either static or DHCP. I assume all the ethernet connections are wired the same way and are tested?

Let me know.

Thanks,

Chris.

PS your installer should be all over this for you.

Thank you for responding Chris.
I have spent time with my dealer, I have the latest version of the setup programme. I have been down to Salisbury and let them have a look.
My IP addresses are all static.

What I am raelly trying to find out is:
Is there an underlying problem with the Digilinx software or does it lie with me?

Like with other issues you don't always get to see the wider picture until you talk to others.

The Digilinx Dealer setup up is pretty stable. What version are you running do you know? And do you have a copy of the project .nsp file you could send me? If you have been to Naim then it should be sorted. What are the exact issues that are occuring?
