Burndy cable problem

Posted by: Pierre Isabelle on 11 April 2001

Dear all,

Recently, I had to relocate my Naim system in my apartment. After reconnecting the components, I had a bad surprise. One end of the Burndy connection between my 52 and supercap appears to have a broken contact: the right channel comes and goes with a slight movement on the cable.

Of course, I have the option of taking the cable to my local dealer. However, my past experience with the said dealer was less than satisfying in the past. It took forever to have the voltage conversion done when I settled here in Grenoble (coming from Montreal).

I can use a soldering iron. In principle this thing should be very simple shouldn't it? But how does one access the wire connections in the Burndy? How can I open it up without damaging it?

Pierre,

Are you sure it's the cable. I had a similar problem with my 72. If I moved the cable between it and the amp. I checked the cable and found no faults.

The problem turned out to be a loose board in the 72.
