I was invited to a Finn Brothers concert at the Royal Albert Hall last night and decided, with reservations, to go along. (I always thought that Crowded House made about three good singles in total.)

They were much better than I thought likely.

What blew me away, however, was the support: one (Kiwi) girl plus guitar (played by her). I've checked the web today, and find her described as the first lady of NZ singing.

She's bloody drop dead gorgeous too!

Anyone down there care to comment?

Two albums available. First is a typical first album. Quite dense and layered but with songs that grow stronger with quite a few listens although they're nothing outstanding.

Second album is a corker and a must have. Never seen her live but that's good to know.

She writes some pretty tunes. Her sister also sings (or was it sang) in the band Stellar

She's surely far too good to sink after only two replies. I'm trying to bring a real talent to this Site.

Come on, you Kiwis!

She has also appeared on collaboration album with Tim Fin and Dave Dobbin. It is reputedly quite good but I haven’t heard it. I only have 2, her first one, Drive, and one she did as a live concert with the Christchurch Orchestra. I prefer the latter.

All her stuff is available thru Amazon AFIK.

Her sister, Bo, was the lead singer in Stellar. They were very popular here for a while, and pretty good (over the radio anyway). Haven’t heard from them lately, which probably means they have moved to Australia.

I have both albums and think they're very pleasant indeed. Smile

Her first Album's been on my Amazon wish list for some time - so long that I can't remember what she sounds like. I didn't know there were two - must investigate.

You should see their race horses. Real stayers. Probably goes back to transport problems in the Land of The Long White Cloud.

Graham, Yes you're right. She has a very sweet voice. I bought her album, Beautiful Collision a couple of years ago whilst on holiday over in New Zealand. By the way was there any mention of the tragic death of Paul Hester(Crowded House drummer) at the concert? I saw a photograph of the gig in the paper and they had a lone snare drum with a bowler hat perched on top as a tribute.

Shaun

I went to the Tuesday concert, when there were a couple of references to PH's death. There had been a concert on the Monday, when they had first heard of his death, when much more was said and the snare drum stood on the stage alone.
