Well, they are cheap. This is because they use less well known artists and cut corners during recording. This used to lead to some appaling reordings. Now they have improved considerably. The recording quality can be very high, but is still variable. The music they record is very varied and they acively promote lesser known repetoire.

They are now attracting more mainstream performers so look out for forth coming bargains.

Enjoying it all

It is actually the re-release stuff that I have bought; a couple of Django Rheinhart and a Duke Ellington release. I love Django's music but because of the vintage the sound is often terrible. I have a blue note release which is OK and a verve one which is garbage. The Naxos release has apparently had some noise reduction on it which is about as good as you can get - we shall see!
