Most traveled piece of Naim kit?
Posted by: Hammerhead on 13 June 2002
I’m in the process of selling my little NAC62, which is yet again dusting off its passport, prior to leaving for Scandinavia (Denmark to be exact). Since its birth in Salisbury, it has traveled to London where it was sold and lived for a few years, then went to sunnier climbs in France before coming back to Blighty to live with me. Now the cute little thing is off collecting more Airmiles once more.
So, what’s the most traveled piece of kit that you’ve owned/own? Answers on a postcard please ;-)

Isn't New Zealand farther than the combined UK - France - UK - Denmark? Isn't NZ represented here?
Is Oz farther from Salisbury than NZ?

Number of different countries your piece of Naim kit has lived in. Obviously, NZ is probably as far in terms of distance you can get bar the South Pole (from Salisbury)!

My Naim kit hasn't travelled far, but the system I had pre-Naim (Technics/JVC/Revox) moved house with me 17 times in the course of nearly 12 years. Try and beat that!
(The Technics CDP is still going strong at a friend's house after 14 years of heavy-duty service.)

My CDX has gone Salisbury, Sydney, Hong Kong, Sydney and now London... I should have registered it for frequent flyer points.

My 82, CD2, 2 x hicap, 250 has all gone. Salisbury->Frankfurt->Riga (latvia)->Warsaw (Poland)-> London-> curently Athens, Greece.
Planning to add an AV2, 175 and VS1 (when I can find out more what the VS1 can actually do - as Im currently running a rather complex video system into a plasma screen!)

Steven,
just doing a search for info on 62s when I saw your post. It has arrived, looking none the worse for wear, here in Japan minus a shorting plug for the 5-pin SNAIC and with a letter with your name and address on it from Naim in the box!
This may well be the most-travelled bit of Naim kit , especially if take it back to Brockley anytime in the future.

Pete,
That's fantastic news to hear that it's still on the move and seeing the world

Hope you enjoy it!
All the best,
Steve

got to be the most distant. 24 hours flying time...There are a couple of bits here that have come from Salisbury, then been returned to Salisbury for updating, only to come back here after that. Now that is collecting air miles!!
Chris.

Hmmmmm, most travelled, I reckon I can top most of these ......
I bought my kit (250/62 is all I have left of the original kit) in Suadi Arabia, and has followed me around since then, it has travelled as follows:-
1. Salisbury > Suadi Arabia
2. Saudi Arabia > UK
3. UK > New Zealand
4. New Zealand > UK
5. UK > Holland
6. Holland > Bangkok
Beat that .....

I reckon you were pretty brave ordering your CDX from Germany, what with all the mitzengrabbenundfingerpoken they do over there, still, I guess Naim kit is pretty robust, and well packaged of course.
I just received a NAC72 to replace my NAC62 originally purchased in Saudi, so I guess I'll have to get a passport for it if the rest of my kit is anything to go by.
Cheers, and a Happy Holiday (politically correct as you can see!) - Mike
