how to lose the link pins?

Posted by: woodlowkev on 29 December 2002

I have recently changed my system to naim 112/150/cd5/fc2, but kept my Proac tablette 2000 signatures, these like to be bi-wired, I have also changed my 2 runs of van den hul cs122, for naca5 singe run. Is there a best way to set this up doing away with the link pins???

Use small pieces of speaker cable in place of the links. I have done this with my Naos speakers.

The awful sound of those gold-plated links makes biwiring seem like an upgrade. Getting rid of them altogether and using decent cable in their place is even better.

I biwired my Naos until I performed this simple tweak. I have since found that biwiring impairs the dynamic performance of your speakers.

Steve.

Do it like this. The plug pins used here are from Naim speaker plugs available from your dealer. The slots in the pin ends are correctly sized for NAC A5 conductor and are easy to solder (hint: big iron).

Another approach, which I have used, is to connect both sets of internal wires to one set of terminals - no soldering, no need to work with small, stiff lengths of A5....
