CDNow Preferred Buyer's Club via Amazon

Posted by: ErikL on 02 March 2004

Anyone done this?

Check out the CDNow Preferred Buyer's Club. Looking at my wish list, there are several CD's normally $14.99-18.99 on Amazon for less than $10 through this club. Shipping is free for orders over $25. It seems good for grabbing older albums you missed the first time around.

I'm now off to read the T's and C's to find the rub, beyond needing to buy 2 CD's at normal prices.

... but with the exchange rate as it is at the mo I'm ordering stuff from that site anyway! Only thing to bear in mind is some of the purchases are copy protected...

amazon keep sending me e-mails persuading me to join the PBC. Just sent them this (I wonder whether they have a canned response):

Hello amazon/CDNOW,

I wanted to join the Preferred Buyer's Club about half a year ago but found this:

"Memberships in the CDNOW Preferred Buyer's Club and shipment of CDNOW Preferred Buyer's Club CDs are available only in the U.S. and its territories and possessions."

As far as I can tell, this hasn't changed and the PBC is still only available to US citizens (embrace globalisation!). Yet you continue to dangle the proverbial carrot before my nose (see your e-mail below); perhaps you could knock customers living outside the US off your PBC mailing list.

Kind regards,
Thomas Kunzler
