Help! bi-wired speaker prob.

Posted by: monkfish on 10 June 2003

Hi
I have been given a pair of Gale GS 301 speakers which are set up for bi-wire (2 sets of terminals on the back). To use these speakers with ordinary cable do I just link the 2 pos. and 2 neg. together or is there any other internal connections to deal with. Any help would be gratefully appreciated as I have no experience of bi-wiring at all.
Regards
Jim

normally +to+ and-to - to wire bi-wire speakers with a single run you could remove the brass shorting links and make some jumpers out of your exsisting cable ensuring you keep the polarity correct this would give you a better sound than running a signal along a brass strip

I found with my bi-wireable speakers (Rogers LS6a2) that removing the brass jump strip, bridging across with NACA5 and then plugging into the UPPER posts delivered a significant improvement in bass clarity. Try it for yourself. Some people recommend terminating the speaker cable in "F" configuration with two sets of plugs on each cable - one each for each upper and lower post.
