Bookshelf Speakers

Posted by: David Stewart on 05 September 2002

I'd appreciate recommendations for a pair of small (and relatively inexpensive) bookshelf speakers. They're to go with a Linn Classic in the dining room. I guess the obvious ones might be Kans but they seem to be in short supply in the used marketplace and there's not enough budget to buy new Katans. I had thought about Rega Kytes, B&W DM602s or Monitor Audio Bronze 2s. I'd be interested in any user feedback on these or other candidates. Ta!

Hi David,

Personally I love the Mission 780's. They look good, are easy to place, and sound great for the money. Open, detailled, dynamic, fast.
Or...the most recent Kans who are now also available in some pretty neat realwood veneers, and good enough for a Linn Classik.

Greetings,

I have heard really good things (both in the recent press and live) about this little guy/ Also, how about the Axiom m2ti-- an internet favorite! I like the little Tannoy MX2 myself. The new Quads are supposed to be killer but may be out of your price range.

Thanks for the useful responses guys. They give me a good starting point for further research and audition. It looks like there's probably more choices than I'd originally thought.

This little southen-on-sea manufacture make some of the best finished speakers on the market and if they are going in the dinning room, this might be important.

I run epilouges on the end if a 42.5 160, and at less than £300 GBP, I belive it is hard to find a better bookshelf.
