Hi, Folks.
After a long forum abstinence and
extended listening, i found a new
topic to report on ;-) .
As you can see out of the title it must have
something to do with drugs, and that's it.
Beside the music (which indeed could be
a sort of drug), i mean alcohol and tobacco.
Yesterday evening i startet an elongated
vinyl session with a good cigar (partagas corona, nice one the ash hold 2.5cm ).
This item alone brings a lot of pleasure beside the spinning vinyl on the table.
After a while i decided to take a whisky incompanion to the cigar...and wow...!
The music flowting out of the speakers went
better and better...and the bottle (you can imagine).
Maybe thats it, instead of buying a CDSII,52,500,Allae...buying cubanian cigars and
gallons of whisky...
Anybody who tested this before?
You can try the effect starting with L.Armstrong "What a wonderfull world"...on the second side Sachmos lullabay is that cute,
rhythmic, flowting, you never heard it that way :-) before.
Another nice musician for such evenings is tom waits, not beloved all around the world, but he mutats to a genius. ( Mule Variations, second side last song...whats he building...it's that amazoing and horrible... )
This list could be continued, but i would like to hear what songs you consum in such a mood.
If i remember correctly, there was such a thread before but didn't found it :-(.
Maybe here we can start to collect good experiences during listening to music.
Ok, there ale also experiences which we all know
can happen with good music in companion with cute females ;-), but they should not be discussed here.
Have a nice evening and take care of the purple people.
Regards

Matthias,
Welcome back! I know what you're talking about. I was A and B ing last night Coltrane's "My Favorite things" on my 01 and my CDS 2. It all started with a bottle of new beaujoulais. "My Favorite Things" came on the local detroit FM station and I was transfixed. It had never sounded so good before. When it was over I dug up my CD and played it on the CDS 2, enjoying the wine as I did so. It was nice to compare the presentation of the same recording on two great sources. The 01 was more relaxed and rounded with more air between the instruments, but the alto sax didn't quite sound powerful enough to be real. Comes down to a slight lack of bass in the redio signal. The CDS 2 had much more weight and presence but seemed a little more forward. The wine, without question, was terrific!

I bet the CDSII, 52, 500, Allae etc. is still around and working long after the listener, if they regularly indulge in nice cigars and gallons of whisky

Hey mb, nice to see you.
just a thought...

it's perhaps better to focus on quality rather tahn quantity - fine bottles rather than Gallons?
The cubans are hard to beat I guess, if cigars are your bag. Moderation in all things, and know the risks.

And merci for the warm welcome...
Yep, bottles are better, cause you know a broken bottle should be emptyed in a month. Otherwhise the oxygen will kill the taste. So if you won't refill the broken bottle into tinyer ones ;-).
David i think i know what you mean. Sometimes radio signal comes close, even or better. The bottle you opend seemd to be a good one, congrats.
( i had no wine in the house :-( )
Mine on the former mentioned was a 16y old Cardhu.
It's semi strenght i would say, somewhere between lagavulin and glenmorangie. The round back was filled with a touch of honey flavour. But what should i wax lyricaly about whisky, taste it.
What sorts are you guys prevering?
Best wishes and lots of music enjoement!!!
PS: Yep, only small dosis from time to time. AND
the cigars aren't that cheap here :-(
