202 Power Supply
Posted by: achandoke on 15 February 2003
I am thinking about getting a 202 to match my 200 amp. I currrently have a 112/fc2/cd5 powering dynaudio 1.3se
If i get a 202, can I power it with the flatcap2. I will use a PSC, but I would like to use the 202 with the FC2 for the time being until I have money for a Hicap.
Any thoughts or advice.

I'm sure the Flatcap2 will do fine until you can afford that Hicap.

How does the flatcap sound when compared to using the 202 with an amp alone? does the hicap add a dramatic difference?

What I can tell you is; that there is a big improvement from 112 to 202.
I use both in different systems.
My 202 is powered with a NAPSC and a Hi-Cap and feeds a new 250.

Thank you for your time and input. I appreciate your help. I am very excited about getting the 202 with the PSC. I will then had a cdx2. So much excitement

The combination should work great depending on your room size and music choice, but because the Dynaudios are relatively inefficient,a possibly better choice (if you had not already purchased a 200) might have been to save up for a 250 and kept your 112 for the short term.
See if your dealer will trade your 200 up to the 250. Or move up the Dynaudio food chain to
something a bit bigger.
Just yesterday we were using the 202 and 200
with 1.3se's and then changed the speakers to
Confidence C2s and the difference was dramatic. The extra 3 db efficiency of the C2's makes a huge difference.

i agree that the dynaudio's are extremely power hungry. I purchased the 200 to power either the audience 82 or perhaps even the new contour s5.4. YOu are right that the extra 3 db makes a big difference. I heard the Special 25 with a 150 and I was amazed at the speaker and Naim combination. The 200 is that much better.
I think a 202 will be a solid upgrade as i should notice a substantial difference with the 202 and 200 combination.

the 200 is plenty for the 1.3se. I was playing the 200 with it over the weekend, and it wasnt a problem. I used it with the Audience 82 as well. I am demoing some B&W N804 with my current setup and its just amazing.
