552 question

Posted by: RICHYH on 08 August 2003

Sorry to sound like a hifi groupie but I have noticed the feet on my 552 do not have rubber insert O rings like the power supply does. The 552 is just sitting on the Plastic surround whereas the power supply has the plastic with a rubber O ring to rest on, is this correct or are they missing?

Are you referring to the 4 sticky pads that with a template to align them (or did these come with the CDS3)?

ah yes I might be, I remember seeing them now, do they stick to the plastic of the 552 feet or the glass shelf of the fraim?

The supply of a placing template indicates they fix to the Fraim glass, but there is no indication of which bits of Kit they fit onto (as I said they were found after my 552/CDS3 installation) or their purpose and/or sonic benefit

I would imagine the 552 to have hard feet becasue it has an internal suspension and if you put compliance in the feet it negates the effectiveness of the suspension. I don't know though.

Lucky you for getting a 552 Smile

Those "bumps" are to prevent the 552 from sliding off the glass. You place them using a template provided by Naim.

With the provided template you stick them to the Fraim glass - you only need two positioned over the front two BBs. This will prevent the glass sliding around when you press buttons on the supported equipment.

Is the thread starter not refeering to his actuall 552.

The 500 and power supply have the four hard feet on the bottom, but also rubber rings inside the feet. I am guessing the 552 does not have the rubber ring on the insides of the feet. I don't know if it should do.

Garyi, this is what I'm asking if it should have the rubber o ring in the plastic feet or not. and if I put the rubber on the glass does it affect sound quality, Richard can you help. thanks

Richyh,

My 552 feet are the same as yours, i.e. have no rubber 'o' rings in the feet. I guess as Dev says that they would interfear with the internal suspention as with the CD players.
