Hissing Tweeters on Active Isobariks
Posted by: Tim Danaher on 13 January 2003
Hello All,
I've just reconnected my active Isobariks up to its 250s. Had to do this because last night the tweeters were going ragged on transients and I wanted to track down the cause (must have been a loose connection somewhere).
On connecting everyhing back up, I noticed that all four tweeters are producing a noticeable hiss -- audible in quiet passages. It wasn't there before. Thing is, the volume of the hiss is constant, no matter where the NAC 32.5's volume control is set or if the Pre is set to mute.
Connections are:
32.5 5-pin output to HiCap-1 socket 4
HiCap-1 Socket 1 to HiCap-2 socket 1
HiCap-2 Socket 4 to NAXO input (NAXO currently sleeveless)
Any ideas or suggestions would be most welcome.
Also, anyone know if QED 79-strand can be used with Naim amps -- on a very short-term basis? I have a little experiment that I want to perform, and I don't want to unsolder the Canon plugs on my NAC A5...
Cheers,
Tim
