Peter Gabriel's "Hit"

Just got a copy of this and it sounds really good, better than "Shakin' the Tree", but a best of Peter Gabriel with no "Mercy Street"?
Don't you just hate it when they do things like that?
Steve.

Hi Munch,
I haven't heard it but others do recommend the SRV dvd. So perhaps worth a try. I think I'll be keeping Shakin' the Tree for the one track.

Have you seen the "Growing Up Live" DVD? Tremendous record of PG live, with great sound and picture quality.

I bought this a while ago and was disappointed with the version of Here Comes The Flood. Is it a re-recorded version from that on his eponymous debut?

Hi Malky,
That's why I like this forum - you always pick up useful info. Presumably you're saying there is a version of Here Comes the Flood on his first album that you prefer?
How does it differ?
This version comes from "Shakin the Tree" btw.
Steve.

It's not hugely different but it's not the version I remember. Maybe I'm thinking of the version he did with Robert Fripp.
Incidentally, I saw him live many, many years ago in Glasgow. He is a superb live performer. The set gradually built up, climaxing with Biko. He then came on and encored with a solo version of HCTF. Just him sat at a piano, spellbinding.

I have Hit with the 'miss' bonus CD - rather good and with mercy street on it.
If you want a pukka copy of mercy street get the new 200g remastered 'so' LP, or the remastered cd version - very good.

Andy,
Trust me to miss the boat.I assume Hit and Miss is no longer available?
Sounds like the one to have.
Does "So" sound better than "Hit"? They are both re-masters.
Regards,
Steve

I preferred the cd remaster - the lp is a lttle 'brittle' sounding IMO - the lp pressing of Us is much much better...
