Mark, I guess you have to because its part of your job, but wouldn't they have sooner gone to see QPR?
Actually, ROTF, it was the first time I have been to OT and I quite enjoyed the experience. Clearly the quality of the football is on a different level to QPR (Man U, not Fulham!), but you are right, I would prefer to watch my own team most of the time. I've already got my ticket for to watch us dump Chelsea out of the cup!

But Capello's got no decent experience for God sake - He's never managed the Boro'

He'll do for me

Capello's a good great choice.

Not if you keep playing the mighty EVERTON!! Waheeeyyyy!! Sorry Scotty, you could have done with an easier draw, like Chelsea, Arsenal or liverpool.

got you again on saturday in the league mark - well be sick of the site of each other by final whistle.

Scotty,
I suppose we should fancy our chances again at the weekend (certainly on current form) but these 2-game combinations have a habit of ending up "win one, lose one" - so we'll have to wait and see. I have to admit that the injury situation is not helping the 'Ammers cause (again!).
From my point of view it is great to be involved in a Semi-Final again. It seems like ages (well, actually, it is!).

Will his departure mean that much? I don't think so, as long as the team do OK. I'm a bit surprised he didn't hang about a bit longer. I wonder what his expectations & timescale actually were?
Anything better than "fairly safe mid-table status", the season after our last one was surely unrealistic.
Matt.

the egg man was never the true chairman.
he only held 5% shares which guddmarsson the real chairman bought from him to become overall shareholder. by all accounts the egg man overstepped his authority and now hes history.
this bloke really means business and reckons he will finance the new stadium.

Hi Scotty,
Thanks for your kind words, but are you feeling as generous tonight?

You really need to get the injury situation sorted out, and hopefully then results will pick up again. Do you have ANY fully fit strikers?

Watched some football highlights and saw one of the worst bits of referring I've seen this season - a Millwall player sent off for celebrating a goal. The ref thought his dance routine was OTT. If we are going to send players off for their dreary and rather silly goal celebrations then we'll only finish 0-0s will eleven-a-side.

mark,
at the moment we are useless at home but strangely good away from homw !! still think you could win the carling cup.
rotf,
same old problem - refs want the limelight. absolutely ridiculous decision.

Scotty,
I hope you are right! Watching the highlights last night you certainly had a few good chances to take the lead. In the end the difference was in the finishing.
BTW, are you still going to NYC this Christmas (or have you been already)?

Well done Everton - great 3-2 at AZ Alkmaar who as I understand were one of only two teams who'd competed in major European competition and never lost a home match - now there is only one: the Tractor Boys, of course.
So thanks Everton - really hope you go on and win it.

Nice to be out of the relegation zone - at last!

Hey Nic
I see Barton's lost the plot again (and remanded at her Maj's pleasure) - How's it going at St James's these days? Jet said they were grim on Boxing Day - Has Big Sam got long left?
Hope you had a good Xmas mate

Diccus,
When you can only scrape a draw (that you did not deserve) at home against the bottom club, and lose away to the club second from bottom, it has to be a worry. Having said that, the performance against Arsenal at home was good and we often raise our game against the better clubs, although not against Liverpool!
You will remember that Sam was not the manager I wanted in the first instance, but ditching managers in mid season is unlikely to help stabilise things either. What no one seems to be able to figure out is what his tactics are, nor why he seems to continue to play people out of position.
I have never been one to boo my own team, nor leave before the end of a match, but there have been plenty doing that of late. Whilst I know being a manager is not a popularity contest, it does seem at times like Sam is deliberately antagonising both players and fans!
By complete contrast Ashley, the club owner, seems to be ingratiating himself with the fans at every opportunity. He was very happy to oblige one of my mate mates (dressed as a black and white Santa) by posing for photos at the Wigan game, whilst again standing on the terrace with the away fans. Ashley is clearly no mug and will be doing his market research, picking up on what the fans are feeling about the manager and the style of football.
As for Barton, it was only a matter of time. Shame he is not so combative on the pitch.
Have a great New Year Diccus, we are seeing it in up the coast at our mate's place at Embleton. Back for City game of course.
Regards
Nic
