David Bentley?

A munchkin and an Arsenal reject - is that what England has come to?

Cole has been consistently ineffectual but Bentley could yet make the grade.

What a kick up the Arse!

That could have been 10-0 and it wouldn't have flattered United. I'd like to see the statistics for attempts on goal but that was even more one-sided than the 6-1 of a few years ago.

....A fine tribute to Bobby Moore mate ...a better defender I never saw ...as far as I remember the first game West Ham played after he passed away was against Sunderland at Roker Park ....we had an emotional minutes silence for him which was impeccably observed by everyone in the ground .

...All my SAFC mad mates knew what the game had lost when he passed away ....I also seem to remember a Sunderland fan walking across the pitch to the Roker End (in which the West Ham fans were gathered) and throwing his scarve to the them as a tribute.

very nice of you to say jet and of course you are right.
he is still talked about at upton park by old and young fans alike - a great man.

What a match, I was in a pub in Wallington (Surrey)where it appeared nearly all locals supported Chelsea, so I kept my head down, supped my pint and watched in misery as Chelsea went in the lead with a perfect free kick. Then alas Spurs obtained a penalty and Berbatov scored in his own sublime style and to my amazement the pub errupted in cheers. My god there are Spurs supporters in this neck of the wood. Even the locals were suprised. Then later Spurs scored their second goal and it was now Chelsea's turn to be apprehensive and nervous as to the outcome. Admittedly the last 7 minutes was worrying for Spurs as they defended deeper and deeper as Chelsea gave all they got. The sign man on the side of the pitch indicated 3 more minutes to go and all the Spurs fans in the pub vented their frustration, 3 minutes for what.. there was no injury time..? The 3 minutes lasted forever at the end I thought Chelsea scored, but no the ball hit the goal post and the pub (Spurs fans) errupted in cheers and then the game was over.

Sorry to have gone on like this but believe me having spoken to some Spurs fans afterwards, this win of the Carling cup was such an important psychological boost and we feel this may only be the start of something big. We have now beaten Arsenal and Chelsea. And who knows Manchester United look out To dare is to Win

yes yes but lets not go on about it after all its not like winning the world cup...is it!!

....I guess nearly everyone apart from those down the Kings Road and the Emirates were pleased with that Spurs victory ....it seems eons ago (ok first game of the season!) that my mackems beat Spurs 1-0 (whilst Berbatov was being substituted after hardly having a kick!) and not so long ago that Spurs fans on the the phone ins were all of the opinion that Jenas was a work shy show pony who should be sold as soon as possible. Much mention has been made of Spurs being genuine pretenders to the top 4 yet people forget they actually finished 5th last season without Ramos being in charge!

Wouldn't it be even better if it wasn't Man U OR Chelsea that won the FA cup this season? ..(if there was a god he'd ensure they played each other before the final!)
It will be interesting to see if those teams in the so-called 2nd tier of the Prem ie Villa/Everton/Man City can push on and usurp Liverpool for 4th place.

My fantasy scenario would see Arsenal winning the league (simply because of the style of their play) Villa finishing 4th (I like Martin O'Neil) Man U winning the Champions League (cos they are English I guess!) Everton claiming the Eufa Cup (The English thing again) WBA winning the FA Cup (ok unlikely!) .....Sunderland managing to stay up .....and Newcastle to be relegated (yes it really COULD happen! please please please :-)

Oh and Ipswich to be promoted via the playoffs!

Scotty

Do you think we'll do the Chels tomorrow?

Personally, given the turmoil at SB, balanced by their desire for revenge after being mashed by the Spuds in the CC, I think we'll sneak a draw, which I'd be very satisfied with.

What I do know that Fatty is guaranteed his usual warm UP welcome!

i certainly hope so kevin but with the ammers as always it really depends which west ham turn up! lumpalard will get the usual no doubt just hope he doesnt score.

Yep, fingers crossed for tomorrow.
Someone's going to have to keep Drogba under a tight rein, & hope one of our strikers gets on target. At the moment, thats looking a tad tough. Will Deano start the game, I wonder. Nobby may just sneak one in for us, I'd be happy with a 1-all draw.
Oh, Dave, my arm is now out of plaster, & I can use my turntable. Hoorah!!
Matt.

Talking of Chels, it looks like Mourinho and Rijkaard will be doing a swap for next season.

Much as I admire Mourinho, I can't quite see how his style would fit with the Barca principles.

Of course, it HAD to be HIM that scored 1st, didn't it?
And then yet another ex-hammer scoring Roll Eyes
Listening to it on the radio, it sounded as if the team, as well as half the supporters had given up & gone home by the hour mark.
Just can't seem to find the back of the net, can we. When was the last time we had 2 consecutive wins?
Oh well, bring on the scousers!
Matt.

today we hit a new low - after 20 mins the game was over and west ham gave up end of..........
chelski were superior in every dept. the manner in which we meekly surrendered is very worrying indeed. must say though that im sick n tired of all this nonsense where players gang up on referees surrounding them at every decision that doesnt go their way and chelski are one of the worst teams for this along with the mancs and the arse.
its about time that we started to punish these silly antics with a 10yd penalty like in rugby.
it doesnt help with all the weak refs that are in the premiership either. AND IM NOT JUST SAYING THIS BECAUSE WE GOT STUFFED!......the blue scum totally outclassed the hammers today and thoroughly deserved it.
