That's a difficult one Scotty but to take the usual rabid fan's optimistic view ...

There seem to be plenty of funds around given one of our main financial backers is this guy (we have 6 others!)...

Today he is a billionaire businessman, living in a mansion with its own stud farm, who counts the U2 singer Bono among his friends and had Debbie Harry, of Blondie fame, to sing at his 50th birthday.

Mr Mulryan, it can be revealed, stands to make more money than any other individual businessman from London's successful bid to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

Today his company, Ballymore Properties, owns 60 acres in the Lower Lea Valley "wastelands" close to where the £2.3 billion Olympic Park is being constructed in Stratford.

Ballymore is building 18,000 homes, five million square feet of commercial property and a school for 300 pupils, all of which will provide a huge return on its investments.

....Keane seems determined to ensure he is seen as a success at Sunderland ...he regards it as an "insult" that the media see SAFC as merely a stepping stone to eventually getting the Man U job.
Having always been a winner Keane isn't interested in lower mid table finishes and certainly not another season in the bottom 6 next season!! (of course he will be interested in the Man U job eventually!!)

Despite the season we've had we are officially the 4th best supported club in England! (and yes I know Liverpool are stymied until their new ground is built) but the SOL can be expanded to 65.000 (but not just yet!)

Our youth team has just made the semi finals of the FA youth cup and has looked better than it has done in years.

We (or Niall Quinn)are still chasing the "Irish vote" ...increasing no's of Irish supporters trek over to the SOL for every home game ....the idea being that SAFC will be the "official" Irish backed team in England. (this has made Quinny very unpopular in certain areas of the republic)

I would expect us to finish 9th next season but this IS Sunderland we are talking about!

yes understood jet. looks good in theory though! Winker.....sounds very familiar from our end too. like the song goes - "just like my dreams they fade and die" Cool
but you never know ! good luck. scotty

Great clearance off the line by Bendtner! Big Grin

Never mind that, Mark - how was Kuyt's wrestle of Hleb to the ground right in front of the referee not given as a penalty? Another big decision in a big game incorrectly called.

Ah, but Mark, if he was wearing a blue shirt it would have been good defending wouldn't it?!! Big Grin

Mark, you are sooooo cynical! I just want to see fairness and consistency in refereeing. Winker

Mark

P.S. So, in your opinion, was it a pen or not?

Under normal circumstances yes, but this was against the Arse so it was a fair decision!

Two goals in injury time and QPR rescue a draw from being 0-2 down at home to Preston. I think we'll settle for mid-table mediocrity considering our position at Christmas and look to next season and hopefully a good chance of promotion.

We'll spend a bit of our new money on players in the off-season (perhaps we'll buy Barcelona!) and be challenging for a Champions League spot in no time.

Loadsamoney!!!!

......Football eh? ..like the proverbial buses ...no away wins for the mackems for yonks - then two come along at once!
..A crackin' finish by Chops today ..and maybe (whisper it) The fat lass is clearing her throat :-)

Jet,

A cracking finish indeed. Chopra never really got a decent run in the side at Newcastle, it is great to see him banging them in. Obviously I hope he has a nightmare against us!

Regards

Nic

...Tis' a strange old game Nic ...about 5 weeks ago the pervading belief was that Boro's Alvez seemed like a fish out of water in the top division ..that Michael Owen's best days were definitely behind him ..that Chopra wasn't likely to score again in the Prem .....

Now? - well ok Chopra ain't scored many but Keane's only been able to choose from from an injury free squad for the first time ALL SEASON 3 games ago ....and the result? ...3 wins! ...it could be co-incidence but ......

Meanwhile ..Alvez frightened the bejezzus out of Man U yesterday and should have had a hat trick whilst Owen is relishing the service he hadn't been getting all season.

It's also funny that Keane and Keegan both decided at about the same time to "go for it" tactics wise ..we had been playing Kenwynne Jones on his own for far too long without any real end product ...now Daryl Murphy or Chops play WITH him not behind him.

....Keegan persisted with Alan Smith whilst always leaving out Martens or Viduka (the mags at work were going mental about Smith leading the line!)
Keegan goes with his natural instinct plays 3 strikers (without Smith!) and again 3 wins is the result..

.....The forthcoming derby looks extremely tasty!

Fantastic game Liverpool v Arsenal tonight, although the pen was a bit harsh after a similar incident was turned down for Arsenal last week. Walcott's run for the second Arse goal was fantastic - good to see him doing something like that at last.

So 2 English teams through and United odds on to make it 3 in the semi-finals. It must be odds on for a Barcelona victory in the final then!

it could be an all english final in sunny moscow. how stupid is that to send the fans halfway round the globe!!

Harsh, but fun to watch!

Come on!!!

What a game. Torres' goal was phenomenal, but I could have cried when Adebayor scored , and if Arsenal had won, I may well have done. Instead I'm still just a little bit excited!

Yeah, Walcott's run was amazing - I'd love to see him doing that at Anfield every other week. If Rafa buys Bentley to play wide right (and Theo and and another defender or two wouldn't hurt) this team can win the league next season.

In the meantime, I think this might be making a reappearance...

Heh heh!

I might have to buy him one myself if Liverpool beat Arsenal, Chelsea, and Man United to win their sixth European Cup!

Loving it!

A couple of dodgy penalty decisions gone in their favour and all of a sudden they're going to win the Premiership and Champions League.........and probably the World Cup as well! Get a grip.

It was, it was.

Phew, thought you were being all grumpy on me for a second, Mark, and I was going to have to tell my favourite Everton joke again, but I won't.

I like Everton, and like to see them doing well - in fact, they're possibly my second favourite team in Liverpool!

Gotta go.
